Youth

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God--what is good and acceptable and perfect.” - Romans 12:2

First Pres Maumee Student Ministry for grades 6-12 exists because we believe students and those with whom they'll come into contact will be transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

High School student ministry

Sundays from 6:00 to 7:30 pm

The activity we do together vary from week to week. Frequently, we meet in the youth lounge (3rd floor), but sometimes we meet in someone's home.  Once a quarter, we serve a meal to people who are hungry at Mosaic Ministries. We care about being connected to each other and pursuing transformation through learning and serving together in the name of Christ.

education hour

Sundays from 10:15 to 11:00 am
Youth Lounge (3rd floor)

6th-12th graders gather together for conversation and growth. We will be utilizing the TRU Curriculum this coming school year. We apply truths from the Bible to real-life struggles and joys as we continue to grow up in the faith.

Confirmation

We are excited to use the Alpha Youth Film Series as our guiding curriculum of Confirmation.  The core ingredients of the Alpha experience are food, talk, conversation, and fun. The film series emphasizes Alpha’s values, which are teach the truth, authentic friendship, and honest conversation. Youth in grades 7-12 are invited to participate in this rich experience of faith formation.

Confirmation is a special time in the lives of the youth. If they were baptized as infants, the students learn what it means to confirm the vows their parents made for them at baptism.  For others, it is a time when they decide to be baptized and make the vows of the faith for themselves.

During Confirmation, we’ll meet on designated Sunday nights in the Youth Lounge to play games, eat food, worship through song, watch an Alpha video, and discuss it.  We’ll also serve meals to the hungry at Mosaic Ministries and have an Alpha weekend at Camp Storer in Michigan.  As part of Confirmation, each student will be paired with a mentor who will meet with him/her regularly to foster an intergenerational friendship, to pray together, and to mutually encourage one another in the faith.  Through all these thingsmentorship, fellowship, Bible study, servicewe desire that the youth grow in their faith and more clearly see who they already are – vital members of God’s family.

Fundraising

Fundraising for student ministry programming and mission opportunities is done in part through our church's SCRIP Program. Please support our youth through SCRIP.

The youth host a Soup Luncheon fundraiser in the winter (generally the first Sunday in January).  Students also participate in the TNT (Time and Talent) Auction/Variety Show in the spring, which raises money for summer trips and service projects and a portion of the proceeds is given to Mosaic Ministries.
